How Ormskirk Trades proposes to handle information provided by local businesses and website visitors.
Last updated: 3 November 2026
1. Who is responsible?
Ormskirk Trades is a local directory operated as a sole-trader business. David Dillon is the sole trader and data controller. The business contact address is 44 Moor Street, Ormskirk, Lancashire, L39 2QA. Privacy enquiries may be directed to admin@ormskirktrades.co.uk. The form is used only for business listing enquiries and is not an agreement to purchase a paid membership.
2. What information is collected?
When a trade business expresses an interest in joining, the form asks for a contact name, business name, email address, location, trade category and optionally a telephone number. Once listings launch, business profile information may include publicly agreed contact details, service area, website, business description and photographs.
The hosting and WordPress systems may also process technical information such as IP addresses and security logs. An IP-derived temporary anti-spam value is used to limit repeat submissions.
3. Why we use it and lawful bases
We use the information to respond to requests about a business listing and, where relevant, take steps you request before entering a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). We also have a legitimate interest in preventing spam, protecting the website and keeping records of enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)). Contacting us about a listing does not sign you up to a marketing list.
Public listing information would be published only after the business agrees to the details displayed. Providing an enquiry is optional, but the required form fields are needed to respond. This form does not subscribe anyone to newsletters or promotional email lists.
4. Who receives the information?
Membership enquiries are configured to send to admin@ormskirktrades.co.uk through Hostinger Email using the WordPress SMTP plugin. The live registration form and email notification have been tested successfully. The website hosting and email providers process information as required to operate the service. We do not intend to sell personal details or send them to other tradespeople merely because someone has registered an interest. Any later homeowner-to-trader enquiry feature would need its own clear privacy explanation before activation.
5. How long do we keep information?
We aim to remove unanswered or unsuccessful enquiries within six months of the last meaningful contact, unless there is a genuine ongoing discussion or a legal reason to retain them longer. Please contact us if you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, subject to applicable legal exceptions. Records relating to active memberships and invoices have separate retention requirements.
6. Your information rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction or deletion of information, restriction of its use, or object to processing. Where consent is the lawful basis, it can be withdrawn. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You should be able to contact the confirmed website operator before making a complaint.
7. Security and international transfers
WordPress is accessed over HTTPS. The administrator and hosting provider are responsible for access permissions, software maintenance and secure processing. We use hosting and email service providers to operate the site and its inbox. If information is processed outside the UK, the applicable safeguards and provider terms must be checked; contact us for details.
8. Cookies
The website may use essential technical and caching cookies. Burst Statistics is active in its cookieless private mode, using a daily rotating, server-side identifier derived from technical request data. The resulting analytics and any other cookie or browser-storage behaviour still require a final live-site audit. Advertising tracking has not been deliberately built into this directory theme. Cookie behaviour still requires a browser-level audit; see the cookie notice.
9. Changes
This notice will be reviewed as the site goes live, whenever email/hosting processing changes, analytics settings change, or a new enquiry feature is introduced.
